Synopsis

Scientist Jan Benes (Jean Del Val), who knows the secret to keeping soldiers shrunken for an indefinite period, escapes from behind the Iron Curtain with the help of C.I.A. Agent Grant (Stephen Boyd). While being transferred, their motorcade is attacked. Benes strikes his head, causing a blood clot to form in his brain. Grant is ordered to accompany a group of scientists as they are miniaturized. They have one hour to get to Benes’ brain, remove the clot, and get out.—Brian Washington <Sargebri@att.net>.

Interesting Uses of the movie

As late as the 1980s, Medical Schools showed clips illustrating various concepts.

Positives

I saw this movie with my family. We had just gotten a new car, a station wagon with a seat in the third and back row that was turned around so we could look out the back of the vehicle. It was perfect for pretending we were in our own submarine, running around in a body. The movie really caught my imagination.

The characters were so well-portrayed that I was completely engrossed in the story. The plot twists kept me guessing, and the role of Raquel Welch was both entertaining and engaging, not just a pretty face. The film managed to be both scary and funny, a perfect blend of entertainment.

The settings and music of the film were so captivating that I could completely lose myself in the story. It was like being transported to a different world, a world inside a human body.

Cons

It has some older special effects that don’t hold up perfectly. At the time, it was cutting-edge, and humans obviously didn’t know what this would all look like. We are getting closer, but still.

Furthermore, there was a significant uproar about extracting antibodies from the assistant Cora Petersen (Raquel Welch). It was a matter of survival! This necessity of removal led the male actors to initially shy away from the sensitive task, then they all went for it. It was then decided to step in and choreograph the process. The social dynamics were intriguing, and it’s evident that this was a carefully scripted scenario to elicit such a reaction from the actors and the audience.

I don’t know if that is a con or just funny, looking back on it.

All in all, I adore this movie and heartily recommend it.
